Dutch NOS news television and radio guest at Stella
Are pilots unemployed at present or can they actually find a job? The pilots union VNV has asked pilot training schools to reduce the number of course participants. This is why the Dutch radio programme, NOS Radio 1 Journaal, and the Dutch television programme, Journaal op 3, visited Stella to hear about their solution. Stella recently helped fifty students to finds a job.
In the Netherlands there are about twenty flying schools in total, which together train between 700 and 800 students a year. Six months ago Stella had problems in finding jobs for graduates. ,,But in the meantime we have been able to bring back the waiting list from 55 to 5 students”, according to its managing director Evert-Jan Hilgeman. ,,However, we do not focus on the Dutch market, but on the European market. Our graduates have found jobs at EasyJet and Ryanair, and recently twenty students were employed by Sun Express in Turkey.''
The pilots union warns that starting pilots are often confronted with low salaries and temporary contracts. However, Evert-Jan Hilgeman explains the actual situation.
