50% apply for selection
Stella aviation academy has organised more than a hundred Information Days in recent years. 50% of those who attend an Information Day subsequently apply for selection.
Wim Salemink has been organising Information Days for the academy for years. “We have organised more than a hundred Information Days to date. We hold an Information Day for prospective students almost every week. One week there’s an Information Day on a Wednesday at Teuge Airport, the next week there’s an Information Day on a Thursday at Maastricht Aachen Airport.”
“An Information Day always starts with a personal welcome. Prospective students are presented with a brochure, the programme and additional information. After lunch we show a film that gives a good impression of the academy and our commercial pilot training. Then the students take the guests on a tour of the premises and are happy to answer any questions. The guests can take a seat in the cockpit of the aircraft and they can also see the flight simulator bays. The day concludes with a detailed presentation that covers all aspects of the training. Then the guests have another opportunity to ask questions.”
What are the most frequently asked questions? Prospective applicants and their parents tend to ask about the financing of the training and the Stella aviation academy Guarantee Fund. It’s only natural. It’s a big decision. It’s important to think about it very carefully. Shortly after the Information Day approximately 40% of those who attended apply for selection. Another 10% apply some months later.

“Prospective students are always amazed when we advise them to visit other flying schools. We recommend that they get a sense of the culture and atmosphere at different academies before making a choice. After all, they’re about to make a major investment in their future,” says Wim. “It’s really important to get it right.”
