Michiel couldn’t wait to sit in the cockpit
One of the best parts of a holiday was always the return flight. I was always the one who never minded the trip back because it meant that I got to fly. The way I feel about flying has never changed, but what once seemed impossible is now becoming a reality.
During the final year of my education I was faced with an important choice. I knew that I wanted to train as a pilot, but which school should I apply to? To be honest, it wasn’t a difficult choice. I heard so many good reports about Stella Aviation. So I applied to Stella aviation academy and am now one of their students.
When I applied I was told that I would have to be prepared to put my social life on hold. At the time I didn’t believe it. But they were right. Fortunately many of my friends are very understanding. My parents are also a huge support. My father has reserved a captain’s chair for me for when I gain my Private Pilot Licence. My mother is a bit nervous about the whole thing.
I finally completed the theory for my ATPL on 25 July of this year, which means that now I get to fly! The theoretical part of the training is really heavy going. The only thing that got me through it was the prospect of flying. And now I’m due to start the ground school phase of my training. Lots of people have said they want to fly with me once I have my licence, but first I have to start at the beginning!
