Martine: I was focusing on the study of economics
Until the fifth form of the secondary school I had not considered aviation as a career at all, and certainly not becoming a pilot. I was focusing on the study of economics.
When I began to realise what an office job would mean, I quickly started to look for something else. I wanted to see something of the world, and not be stuck on a desk chair. I like variety in my future work.
Soon the profession of airline pilot came into my mind. In hindsight this was not so strange, because I was already interested in planes at a very young age. When I was with my parents at an airport, I always wanted to watch planes. Going shopping or drinking coffee could always be done at another time …
My parents were already enthusiastic form the very start about my idea to fly. However, to see whether flying was really something for me I took two test flying lessons. Then I knew for certain. I want to become an airline pilot!
I selected several flying schools and finally decided to choose Stella. In particular the atmosphere at school appealed to me very much. It is personal and pleasant.
In October I started with theory and until now it suite me fine. I have just finished the first exams. Fortunately I passed everything. It means working very hard, but it will be worthwhile when I can fly on my own for the first time. I am looking forward to that!
When I will have completed my training I would first like to fly in Europe. Making many starts and landings and gaining a lot of experience. Later on I would like to fly a private jet. But for now that is something for the future.
